Licensure Supervision

What will our work together look like in equine-assisted licensure supervision?

If you are not interested in becoming an equine-assisted therapist, there’s still so much to learn by doing supervision in this way! I first use the IDM model of supervision (Integrative Developmental Model) to determine where you’re at developmentally as a therapist. This helps me adjust my approach to make sure I’m meeting your needs. We will spend time in your supervision sessions making connections about how you’re showing up with the horses and how you feel/show up with your clients. I also believe that nothing is more important than making sure we are engaging in active self-care as therapists. Equine-assisted supervision is wonderful self-care to give you a break from the traditional therapy setting of sitting all day.

If you are training to become an equine-assisted therapist, this is your opportunity to get real-life practice, applying what you’ve learned in training during this time when we’re working with each other.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Washington State Approved Supervisor. I provide clinical supervision to master’s-level practicum and internship students, as well as to associate-level social workers and other mental health practitioners (LMHCAs).

Traditional supervision doesn’t work for everyone. If you want to move your body and be out in nature while you earn your supervision hours, equine-assisted supervision may be a good fit for you. Whether you want to become an equine-assisted therapist yourself in the future or not, being with horses is a unique opportunity. This kind of supervision allows you to learn more about yourself and how you’re working with your clients through the hands-on experience you’ll have with the horses.

Unable to travel, allergic to animals, or horses just aren’t your jam, but would like to learn somatic body-centered approaches to therapy. You are in luck, we can adapt to non-equine-assisted in-person or virtual sessions for you to reap the benefits.

My clinical background encompasses working with adolescent, youth, and adult mental health and substance use disorders, justice-involved individuals, and professionals in human services/first responder fields.

As a clinical social worker, I am drawn to therapeutic approaches that utilize an experiential and neurobiological approach to healing.
